This film was created from sights and sounds filmed and recorded in Vietnam and are representative of day-to-day encounters of American troops in the heartland of Vietnam. For 97 days director Eugene Jones and a three-man crew trekked through the Vietnam jungle with the ``point squad'' of a Marine platoon. The resulting documentary is an unflinching look at war up close, from jungle patrols and twilight Viet Cong attacks to a child's birth in a village and a danger-filled mission that results in more than one death (the filmmakers themselves were wounded several times).
